Emerging Markets Homeownership Initiative (EMHI)

The Emerging Markets Homeownership Initiative (EMHI) is a collaborative partnership to close the homeownership gap that exists among Minnesota’s growing emerging market communities.

The goal is to connect mortgage and real estate professionals with Minnesota’s growing and diverse ethnic populations across the state and assure 40,000 new emerging market homeowners by 2012. Governor Tim Pawlenty officially launched the initiative on June 28, 2004, with the charge of developing a business plan that will increase homeownership in communities of color throughout the state “significantly and dramatically” by 2012.
